Painter Nakosaki

Born in the 1990s, he graduated from Shandong Academy of Fine Arts and Crafts in 2017. Using techniques from Chinese painting, he expresses the collision of classical and pop culture. Pop culture, typified by "moe culture," has become a part of everyday life, and the "de-sacralization" of classical culture is now a common understanding.

It's not just about visual cuteness, but about seeing it as a state of the world. Through childlike, moe characters, it expresses the hopeful, courageous, and positive attitude of young people.

inspiration

Her work stems from Na Xiao-xian's desire to "return to childhood." Her works recreate classic figures and incorporate modern pop elements and manga styles. Child characters dress up as famous historical figures, using this as inspiration for her "moe power." The adult world is often fickle and complicated, so she hopes to guide everyone to the innocent and beautiful world of children and bring healing to everyone.

Interpretation of the work

Na Xiao-xian's paintings begin with "fun," but that's not all. More importantly, there is meaning behind that fun. Her work asks us: "Do revered classic works have something in common with the innocence of children?" In her "Cute Classics" series, the artist reinterprets classic works from art history with a childlike expression, revealing their approachable and fun side while still retaining the flavor of classic works. This allows viewers to experience the profound depths of art history in a relaxed manner, and reveals the everyday and simple side of the solemn classical works.
